I am huge on romanticizing my life. This can be done any time of year but during fall, there is an especially magical element. It is a season where everything slows down a little bit and life starts to take on glowing shades of red and orange. It is a wonderful time to start taking extra care of yourself and appreciate the little moments.
That being said, what better way to romanticize your life than with a solo date? Carve out an hour or so to spend slow, luxurious time with yourself and allow yourself to enjoy it. Here are 5 ideas to make the most of your YOU time:
- Bring a book or journal to a local coffee shop. I know it can feel a tiny bit awkward at first, and that is so valid. I used to hate going places myself because it felt like everyone was looking at me but I promise you that absolutely no one is. Walk into that shop as if you’ve been going every day of your life, order exactly what you want, and have a seat in the coziest corner. Bring your journal or the book you’re reading and enjoy.

- Go on a scenic walk or drive. Put on a soft playlist and head outside! If you’re not in the mood for a walk or don’t have the most walkable area, just drive. It’s good for the soul to get out of the house every now and then even if you have no destination.

- Have a cozy movie or tv show marathon. Movie nights with friends are great but how about a movie night with yourself!? You get to pick exactly what show or movie you want and you get to pick the snacks. Be elaborate with setting up: bring out the charcuterie board and your nicest glass for your favorite wine. Put on the string lights or any mood lighting that you normally save for guests. You are the moment!

- Make an autumnal treat or dinner dish. Thanks to Pinterest, TikTok, Reels, and the internet in general, there is no shortage of recipes for you to try! Think about something you’d genuinely like to eat or share and look up an “autumn” recipe for it. Think apple, pumpkin, spiced, squash, soup, something of that nature. Make an event out of it and go to the store to purchase supplies, put on a podcast or playlist, light a candle, and take your time making your masterpiece.

- Visit a pumpkin patch or go apple picking. You totally do not need to wait for friends or a significant other to be available to complete one of these quintessential autumn trips! Head to a pumpkin patch in your area – you have one, trust me. If we have one here in Orlando, I promise you can find one. If you’re lucky enough to be near an apple orchard as well, try that. You can still get the cute photos and still come home with the goods.

For all of these activities, really try block out an hour or two to focus on the present. No need to be answering texts or thinking about to do lists. When it comes down to it, romanticizing your life is about being completely present in the now.
Wherever you are this fall, be all there and appreciate the beauty that is the change in seasons. xo
