Spooky season is in full swing here in Orlando and there is no shortage of spooky themed bars for you to try out this year!
Cocktails and Screams – Downtown Orlando
- Reservations Needed: No.
- Cover Charge: Yes, usually.
Starting strong with a year-round Halloween-inspired cocktail bar, Cocktails and Screams is located right in downtown Orlando. The decorations and theming are up all year so they are expertly done. You’ll have your choice of sitting at the bar or at one of the many tables surrounding the stage. There are often bands or karaoke nights and during September and October, there are events pretty much every weekend, so be sure to check their Instagram for that night’s theme! As a bonus, there is a speakeasy in the very back of the bar that is sometimes open. Oh – and the drinks! Spooky- themed of course, and if you’re lucky, your drink will bubble or mist.

The Courtesy Bar – Winter Park
- Reservations Needed: Yes.
- Cover Charge: No.
This typically chic and classy bar has a Halloween pop up this year coined “Nightmare on Orange.” They’ve done pop ups before but this was my first time visiting the location and I have to say they really splashed out. Floor to ceiling decor makes for a completely immersive experience and the spooky cocktails top it off. If you have a party of more than 2, a reservation is highly recommended as it gets really full. And also, shoot for the bar seating if you can.

Permanent Vacation – Maitland
- Reservations Needed: Yes.
- Cover Charge: No.
If you’re a fan of tiki style drinks, this is the spot for you! Permanent Vacation is a speakeasy that is attached to a pub called The Copper Rocket. You’ll check in with the hostess and then she’ll walk you back into the cozy space that is the bar. It’s relatively small but the theming is amazing! Even our cocktail server was on theme. We ended up becoming friends! You will be provided with both their regular and seasonal menu. As a heads up, these drinks are strong.

Dead Coconut Club – Universal CityWalk
- Reservations Needed: No.
- Cover Charge: No.
If you’ve arrived a little too early to enter Universal’s Horror Nights, I recommend a stop at the Dead Coconut Club located in CityWalk. I’ve been coming for several years and I haven’t been impressed until this year. It’s the first year I’ve seen the Coconut Club really well themed and always bustling. This year, it’s themed as an eerie sorority house’s Halloween bash. There are two floors so be sure to explore it all. You may even catch a small performance downstairs if your timing is right!

The Reindeer Room: Nightmare Before… – Downtown Orlando
- Reservations Needed: No.
- Cover Charge: No.
I am a huge fan of the Reindeer Room! Located in the Thornton Park area of downtown, this bar is basically like a permanent pop up bar, with different themes each time of year. Its permanent name is the Reindeer Room since they started during Christmas time but right now they have a ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ type overlay. There are nods to the movie but the spooky decor is a little bit of everything! I loved the ‘Stranger Things’ wall!
