How to Host a Vision Board Party

1. Decide on who to invite and send invitations.

The invites can be digital or physical, depending on your style and budget. If it’s going to be more of an informal event with some of your girlfriends, a digital invitation is honestly perfect. I love using Canva to make invites and other graphics.

Invitations are a little bit extra, if you’re just having close girlfriends over, but they add a little something. Life deserves to be celebrated and invitations bring some whimsy to the evening! Plus digitally, it is completely free to send them!

Here is the invite I send via text message to the friends I was hosting:

You can also use Minted or Shutterfly, but I’m just most familiar with Canva as a platform. Even with the free version there is SO much you can create. You don’t need it to be a holiday or someone’s birthday to send actual invites. Life itself is a special occasion, and an invitation to your event makes it even more special!

2. Gather needed materials.

If you’re making physical boards, you’ll have to do some prep beforehand. There is always an option to make digital vision boards. Here’s what you’ll need for each:

Digital Vision Board Party

  • Everyone’s phones, tablets, or laptops.
  • A charger nearby.
  • Printouts of insipring quotes, examples, and other inspo.
  • Pens and paper for brainstorming.

Physical Vision Board Party

  • Boards: You can use canvas boards, which are just over $1 each from dollar tree or cardstock if you want the vision board to be completely flat.
  • Magazines, newspapers, old books.
  • Glue.
  • Scissors.
  • Colored markers.
  • Pens and paper for brainstorming.
  • Food and drink supplies (see below).
  • Decorations (see further below).

…

3. Decide on food and drinks.

I highly recommend light, healthy snacks this time of year. A lot of us are recovering from overindulgence over the holidays, so light bites will probably be more popular than a cookie tray.

I also love a themed drink. Once again, I recommend the healthy route here with no alcohol (or at least the option of a mocktail). Below is a super easy recipe for a sparkling cranberry mocktail (makes 4):

  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 4 tbsp simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • sparkling water or club soda, to top
  • cranberries and lime wedges for garnish (optional)

If you want the cocktail version, add about 4 ounces of vodka. This is a great drink recipe as the juice can be switched out based on your preferences and it’s super easy!

You could even come up with a creative name for your cocktail / mocktail. Mine was called a manifestini!

4. Decorate and set the vibes.

Have fun and decorate! You can choose a color palette or a general vibe. I recommend fun and hopeful colors. If you’re hosting the party at the start of the new year, blues and silvers are super pretty and seasonal.

There is also the option to pick a theme or vibe rather than a color. I love a theme! Some ideas are:

  • Dreamscape – Decorate with soft pastels, clouds, and stars. Fairy lights are also super cute if you have them; you are trying to create a peaceful but creative looking atmosphere.
  • Self Care Sanctuary – Create a cozy, spa-like atmosphere with candles, aromatherapy, and calming neutral colors. You should be able to find a manifestation music with a cozy background on YouTube or Spotify.
  • Boss Babes – I’m not a huge fan of this phrase but I couldn’t think of any other way to convey the vibe. Think sleek decor with lots of gold and black. Anything that screams empowerment. Search for a “rich girl energy” type of playlist on Spotify.

5. Enjoy and do not put too much pressure on the evening.

I, myself, am very type A. It’s likely you have at least one friend or attendee who will also be type A. The vision board does not have to be perfect. Life itself isn’t perfect so the vision boards are actually more realistic with their “imperfections.” The whole point of the evening is to have fun with your friends and to reflect on your goals and aspirations for the year, the month, or life in general. Good vibes all around!

I hope your vision board night is a success and you enjoy being in the moment with your people <3
