I had the best weekend visiting friends in Raleigh over Labor Day weekend! North Carolina has the perfect weather this time of year and I think we took full advantage. This was my second time visiting and I wanted to share some of my favorite stops.
I stayed with my friend and her dogs in Fuquay-Varina. It’s a picturesque neighborhood that’s just about 30 minutes outside of downtown Raleigh.

On Saturday, we spent some time kayaking at Bond Lake. It was only $8 per person for an hour on the lake, which was plenty of time. The lake isn’t massive and there are no motorized boats on it, so it was really relaxing! Then we had some ice cream after, obviously!!

At night we ventured out to downtown Raleigh (after a silent 30 minute uber ride lol) for a night out. We started the night at Watts and Ward, a really pretty speakeasy with a delicious espresso martini. Throughout the night we moved along to Milk Bar and Teets – both really fun vibes. Compared to downtown Orlando, there are a ton of little bars with lots of character!

On Sunday we slept in and had a late breakfast. Then we reconnected with nature after our night out with a walk around Bass Lake. I seriously could not get enough of the 70 degree and sunny weather. You should know it is currently hurricane season in Florida and my days have been 90 degrees and HUMID, so this was lovely.
In the evening, my friend’s parents came over and made pasta and we ended the night with a campfire and some drinks out back. I regretfully did not get a photo of the fire when it was lit.
It was a picture perfect weekend with friends and I can’t wait for my next trip!! xo
