As the month comes to a close I always love to reflect on the fun things I did, what I learned, what I loved, and my plans and goals moving forward. I’ve always been a big fan of new beginnings whatever that may look like: a Monday morning, a new month, a new job. But I’m also a fan of looking back. Upon reflection I’ve been truly, truly blessed this October! Here’s a look back at some things I did and some things I loved!
Travels & Activities
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights: I should have done a full post honestly but Halloween Horror Nights is always a great way to get into the vibe of spooky season. This year, I bought the frequent fear pass which allowed for entry on Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, and Thursday nights from the beginning of September through October. My favorite houses were themed as Stranger Things, and Dr. Oddfellow’s Twisted Origins. I always recommend going for a night if you live nearby or are visiting during this time of year. They put on an amazing performance all night!

Depeche Mode Concert: Depeche Mode came to the Amway Center in Downtown Orlando this month. We scored some really good seats and it was everything I ever wanted from an older English electronic band!

Boston & Salem: I literally cannot express enough how much I enjoyed these two places. We spent only one full day in Boston which was such a surprisingly clean and safe-feeling city. We explored Chinatown, Feneuil Hall, downtown, and more! And SALEM oh, Salem was sooo good! Here we also only spent one full day. Even though it’s “crowded” this time of year, I found it better that way. There were street performers, tours, and the place was just buzzing! We did a historic tour which I really enjoyed (I typically get a little bored on city tours but this one held my interest for the whole two hours). 10/10 recommend.

Spooky Themed Wedding: So my cousin had a Halloween themed wedding on Friday the 13th. We all wore costumes or Halloween gear and I felt so happy to be around so much of my family at a time of year where we typically aren’t together. It was definitely special and no one will forget it!

Pumpkin Picking and Dressing Up: And of course, we popped by a local pumpkin “patch” to get ourselves one to carve. Our pumpkin was super simple as my carving skills leave something to be desired. Then Halloween weekend we ventured out to a block party in Thornton Park that included a costume contest, drinks, and dancing.

Favorites of the Month
Shows: The Fall of the House of Usher and Money Heist
Books: A Man Called Ove; Ghosts of Manhatten; The Vanishing Half
Music: 1989 Tayor’s Version – specifically ‘Slut!’ and ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’ (Amazon link below because I’m obsessed!!!)
Foods: Veggie pasta (my recipe soon to come)
Products I Love: Self tanning oil because even in Orlando, I get pale this time of year! My favorite is tanologist face and body drops (also links to Amazon).
October, thank you for the memories and the amazing times this year. It is just what I needed! November, we are so ready for you!
