We made it to the month of love – February. I’m not sure if it is just me, but this past January flew. Seriously, it was the fastest January I’ve ever experienced.
What’s crazier about it, is that I didn’t do much other than work. Between two jobs and trying to have a “low spend” month, there wasn’t much going on for me. While it was a much needed break after the holidays and a really busy 2023, I’m ready for some activities! As a child, I was always excited to get through January, February, and March and onto spring, summer and the holidays. But these months have such fun to offer and should not be rushed! In fact, I’d appreciate slowing time down a little!
For now, I’ve done my best to compile a list of activities to do in the month of February that are seasonal, easy, and hopefully fun for you (and maybe some friends) to try out <3
Take yourself on a solo date.
February is not just a month for lovers. Even if you have a partner, why not take yourself on a solo date to celebrate the month of love! Self love counts too. Choose something that you absolutely love doing that you maybe haven’t gotten around to for a while. You could spend a whole day or an evening doing things for yourself. See below for some ideas:
- Get a massage. Get your nails done. Get your hair done!
- Go shopping at your favorite place and allow yourself to spend X amount of dollars with absolutely no guilt.
- Look up a recipe for a dish you love and go buy the ingredients and cook for yourself. Set the table nicely with a candle and a drink and enjoy!
- Go to a museum or library to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
- Give yourself permission to do absolutely nothing with no guilt for an entire day or evening.
- Go to a restaurant by yourself (Scary, I know! But I promise no one is staring at you!).
Host a Galentine’s Day gathering.
Maybe you don’t like being by yourself much! If you don’t want to have a solo date, have a friends date! Again, even if you have a significant other, what better way to enjoy a month of candy, pink, hearts, and love than celebrating with your girl friends!? You can go simple or all out with this one! Below are a few ideas of how to host an evening with your girls that to celebrate your sisterhood and all things girly:
- Paint and sip night.
- Charcuterie board and wine movie night (I recommend Twilight and that’s all).
- Everyone brings a pink or red treat.
- Bring your favorite romance novel to exchange.
- Game night with pink cosmos.
- Dress up in pink and head to brunch or happy hour.
Watch the superbowl.
Go to a friend’s place, host a watch party, head to a local bar, or put it on in the background if you’re hanging out at home alone. Even if you know nothing about football, enjoy the vibes! Personally, I like chips and salsa to go with my superbowl watching, wherever I may be.
Go to a bar or host friends on National Margarita day.
We’ve made it through dry January friends, time to celebrate! If hosting is your thing, invite some of your friends over for margaritas and tacos. You can have your friends contribute by bringing taco ingredients and set up a buffet of sorts. Or head to a local Mexican restaurant a declare an hour of no phones while catching up over some refreshing margs!
Celebrate an extra 24 hours with the leap day.
It’s a leap year! The last time we had a leap year, Covid was just entering the scene. So enjoy the “bonus” day this month by simply enjoying the freedoms that come with it. We are no longer locked down and life (and YOU) genuinely has so much to offer. Spend the day being thankful for the little things that we might take for granted on other days. You could spend time with loved ones who you don’t have to isolate from, you could write a list of little things you are thankful for and hang it on your fridge. I recommend celebrating LIFE whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Set a February goal.
I’m a huge goal/list/planner person! Why not take a look at your goals in life or just for the year, and try to break them down into smaller goals. When you do this, they look more achievable and you can write out your goal in measurable steps. For example after looking at my goals for 2024, I was able to break down my February Goals:
- Read 4 books.
- Dedicate 3 hours a week to this blog.
- Go 1 full day with no phone usage.
- Volunteer 1 time at the dog shelter.
- 5 out of 7 days in the week, stick to a routine that includes my healthy habits (this might be a whole separate post).
Whatever you do this month, enjoy it <3 Thank you for reading and let me know your plans and goals for February!
